No fewer than six corpses of the job applicants who died in last weekend’s Immigration service recruitment fiasco in Abuja, are yet to be claimed.

According to the National Hospital spokesman, Tayo Haastrup, only the family of Oyisa Yusuf, a 35-year-old mother of one, has taken her body away.
He said: “They were about 70 injured initially brought here but reduced to 30 as they were being treated and discharged. And now we have six injured persons in the ward, among them are two pregnant women.
“They are now in good condition and have been yearning to go home. It is most likely we will discharge them tomorrow (today).
“What will still be keeping the others is just the POP around their legs and little pains. Nobody died in our custody, the bodies were brought to the National Hospital from the stadium.
“We are still waiting for relations to come and identify bodies and this is followed by proper procedures, like the police report. As soon as all these are done, bodies will be released to the families.”
Haastrup chastised the organisers of the tragic recruitment, saying: “For a programme of this magnitude, there should be a medical team involved so as to forestall this kind of situation.”
