The former President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, publisher and scholar, Ambassador Ralph Uwechue, has died on Thursday in Abuja at the age of 79.
Confirming the death of the former leaders, the President-General, Ogwashi-Uku Development Union, Emmanuel Okafor, characterized Uwechue as an illustrious son of Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta.
According to his words, Uwechue's death is a big loss to the Igbos, Delta and the entire nation.
The official also stressed that the deceased was an "exceptional human being that was loved by all".
Responding to the sad news, Chief Lawrence Okolobi, the spokesman of Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, said Uwechue as a president-general of Ohaneze Ndigbo, tried to "unite the entire Igbos with his ideology and the Igbo race will ever remember him for that."
