Fulani herdsmen have accused Gov. Gabriel Suswam of Benue State, of being the cause of the endless violence that has claimed several lives in the state.
The herdsmen, under the umbrella body known as Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association claimed to have lost no fewer than 134 of their colleagues and 11,915 heads of cattle to the clashes in the last three months in Benue, Plateau and Taraba states.
According to them, the governor declared war on them.
Speaking with journalist in Minna, Niger State, the National Vice-President of the cattle breeders association, Alhaji Hussaini Bosso, said that the problem ensued in Benue State when Suswam announced that he did not want them in the state which led to the killing of their members in the three states.
Bosso said that in Benue State alone, the association lost 82 herdsmen and 6,700 cattle while 43 Fulani herdsmen and 4,682 cattles were lost in Plateau State.
He therefore, appealed to the governments of the three states to, as a matter of urgency, bring an end to the killing of innocent Fulani herdsmen.
Gov. Suswam recently escaped death in the hands of Fulani herdsmen when they opened fire on his convoy in North-Central Benue state in Nigeria.
