At least 10 men posing as Army officers were arrested by Military Police at Agbara customs checkpoint along Badagry Expressway, Lagos, on April 7, 2014, Monday.
Some of the suspects were wearing Army uniforms, camouflage, cap and vest.
It has been learn that some of the persons arrested were impersonating army officers, while others were actually officers, but were supposed to be off duty.
The operation by the Military Police was aimed to checkmate the activities of fake army officers operating along the axis.
One of the arrested officers was driving a red Dodge bus, Lagos number plate APP306BW. Bags of rice and other contraband smuggled from Cotonou were recovered from the vehicle.
Another impostor was driving a motorcycle, Lagos number plate Q5593-AKD. The driver was smuggling frozen chicken and turkey.
It would be added that posing as a Naval officer is also a common practice for the state. For instance, over 59fake naval officers were arrested in Lagos in the first six months of the year 2013.
