At least four people sustained injuries after a passenger bus somersaulted on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos, on Tuesday.
It was learnt that the incident occurred around the University of Lagos waterfront inward Oworonshoki.
According to traffic officials, the vehicle, with number plate, XL77EPE, somersaulted after one of its tyres suddenly burst.
The bus was said to have somersaulted after the driver attempted to put the vehicle to a halt.
The accident was said to have caused a traffic congestion, but officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority were able to handle the situation and tow the vehicle from the scene while the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital.
A traffic official said, “There was an accident on the bridge inwards Oworonshoki around 4.30pm. A bus carrying about 22 passengers burst and it somersaulted. Four people were seriously injured, but have been rushed to Gbagada General Hospital.”
