A suspected Boko Haram member was arrested on Monday by men of the Plateau State Police Command after he was caught allegedly spying on policemen at the Mobile Police Barracks, Sector 8 in Jos.
The policemen were said to be undertaking parade rehearsals in preparation for the pulling out ceremony of the state police commissioner, Mr. Chris Olakpe when they spotted, the middle-aged man spying on them.
He then ran towards the nursery and primary school building located within the barracks as security operatives tried to interrogate him but he was apprehended.
As security operatives were quizzing him, he tried to escape a second time but was rearrested.
He reportedly told confessed to his interrogators that he was a Kanuri and had come from Gonori in Gujba Local Government area of Yobe State which is believed to be a strong base of the dreaded Boko Haram sect.
He has been transferred to Anguljos police station for questioning.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Felicia Anselm, said somebody had been arrested, but they were yet to ascertain who he was and unravel his mission. Investigations are ongoing.
