The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup have chosen two Nigerian music stars to perform at the opening ceremony of the World Cup in Brasilia on June 12th.
The Chairman of the LOC, Mr. Silverino Gaucho in a media statement on Thursday revealed to FNN that Fifa wanted two African superstars to sing at the opening ceremony, and they automatically selected the two noisiest African musicians on Twitter.
According to him, “Poko Baby and Skales are the two loudest musicians in Africa. The amazing way they tweet in an hour, with more lines than they will ever sing in lifetime, truly deserves world recognition”.
Hence, he continued saying, “the LOC is giving them an opportunity to showcase their talent at the largest footballing mundial come June 12″.
Many well meaning Nigerians including Don Jazzy and Banky W have repeatedly asked the LOC to listen to Tonto Dikeh’s tracks before making a final decision.
Banky W in a chat with FNN correspondent disclosed that this might be the one chance that Skales may have to get to the Grammys in his dream.
Nigerians are encouraged to support our music duo of Tonto and Skales. If they will render a duet or singles is unknown to us, as efforts to reach Tonto and Skales where marred by the African promoters for their world cup performance.
