Chief Joseph Alake, a political leader of the All Progressives Congress in Efon-Alaaye, Ekiti State, was on Wednesday attacked by some political thugs.
Eight policemen including a Divisional Police Officer were wounded during the attack.
According to Alake who disclosed this at the Political Stakeholders Meeting organised by law enforcement agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, the thugs stormed his residence at about 11 a.m.
He claimed that they fired several gunshots with the intention of killing him and members of his household because he had been the rallying point of the opposition party in Efon Local Government Area.
Confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Lakanu, said he immediately ordered his men to rescue Alake when he got the information
