The Local Super Eagles finished in third position at the just ended African Nations Championship in South Africa, with three members of the team, Ejike Uzoenyi, Rabiu Ali and Odunlami Kunle making the CHAN Team of the tournament, while Uzoenyi was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, won by Libya, at the expense of Ghana.
But speaking yesterday, Kojo said that he was not impressed with the performance of the local players, who he noted were not the best the Nigerian league could offer.
While berating captain and goalkeeper Chigozie Agim as the biggest flop in the team, Kojo said that the players have nothing to offer in Brazil, warning that any attempt to take them to the World Cup would spell doom for Nigeria.
“These players have no international standard. They are not polished and have nothing to offer. As far as I am concerned, there are better players in the league. May be we can talk about Ejike Uzoenyi. Maybe he can be considered but the rest are not good for the flight to Brazil. I wonder where Keshi brought them from.
“Look at that goalkeeper (Agbim) who was jumping about and conceding cheap goals. He was an embarrassment to us. The others also did not fair better. And your coach is thinking of taking some of them to World Cup? They are going to Brazil to do what? They will fail and it will be to our shame”, added Kojo, who challenged Keshi to scout for better players from the Nigerian league scene.
“Keshi should go scouting for better players in the league because we surely have better players in our league than these jokers we took to South Africa”, said Kojo.
